Maple Leafs cut two players following loss to the Canadiens
The Toronto Maple Leafs have made further cuts to their roster following a 5-4 overtime loss to the Montreal Canadiens last night. Two more players are heading to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.
Goaltender
First off, we have goaltender Keith Petruzzelli. The 24-year-old, drafted in the third round by Detroit in 2017, has yet to play in the NHL regular season. He spent the last three years split between the AHL's Marlies and ECHL's Newfoundland Growlers.
Petruzzelli when he was named the ECHL's Goaltender of the Month in October of 2021.
Blueliner
Next is defenceman Tommy Miller, who has also yet to make his NHL regular season debut. Miller played 40 games for the Marlies last season, as well as another 15 with the Growlers. Before that, the 24-year-old spent five seasons in the USA's College Hockey system.
Miller served as captain of the men's hockey team at Michigan State University.
Toronto has one preseason game left, which is against the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night.
