Update (Feb. 13, 9:49 PM ET): According to sources, Fiala has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament after suffering an injury vs. Canada on Friday.

The news comes courtesy of Puck Report on X:
Team Switzerland had a scary incident against Canada as forward Kevin Fiala needed to be stretchered off the ice.
Team Switzerland and Team Canada's first game had some exciting moments and a ton of offensive flair that were marred by a scary incident.
Swiss forward Kevin Fiala took a hit that knocked him out and he hit the ice and lay motionless before getting stretchered off the ice:
It's unknown exactly what the injury to Fiala is but he certainly got tangled up with Tom Wilson, who was only doing his job in trying to win the board battles. For all the criticism Wilson gets for playing dirty, there was nothing malicious behind this hit.
Sources are saying Fiala suffered a leg injury but no word as to a potential break, tear or what the actual damage is.
According to Switzerland's head coach Patrick Fischer, Fiala has been taken to hospital for evaluation with an update likely to follow after:
Fiala, 29, was expected to be a huge factor for a Swiss side who could genuinely make a push given how balanced they are throughout the lineup. He has 40 points in 56 games for Los Angeles this year.

Fiala's injury puts Switzerland's Olympic hopes at risk

A long-term injury could end up jeopardizing LA's playoff hopes, though the main focus right now is making sure there is no serious or long-term damage to Fiala.
Switzerland was unable to withstand a potent Canadian offensive side, as they fell 5-1 to push their record to 1-0-1-0, with their next game coming Sunday against Czechia however it seems very unlikely Fiala will suit up then -- or perhaps the rest of the Olympics.
Canada pushed their record to 2-0-0-0 and take on France on Sunday as they look to finish off their preliminary round with a perfect record and take a wave of momentum into the quarterfinals.
