IIHF issues scoring correction in the Canada vs Finland semifinal game

There has been a bit of a scoring adjustment regarding a goal during Canada and Finland's semifinal game during the 2026 Milan Olympics.
Canada advanced to the gold medal game thanks to a late comeback victory against Finland courtesy of a Nathan MacKinnon power-play winner, setting the stage for a North American finals against Team USA.
The tying goal came with a bit of controversy as Brad Marchand fell over Juuse Saros however upon further glance it appears he was shoved as opposed to ran him of his own accord -- but it's how it's scored that's the focus here.
Makar's assist taken away as IIHF showing spotty record during Olympics
Originally, Cale Makar was given an assist however that has been changed to give Tom Wilson the helper instead. While this has literally no extra significance to the game itself, for those who had bets on Wilson or Makar may have been affected.
It was announced during the broadcast, and while it has no bearing on anything in the future, this is another small attention to detail after so many complaints around the Olympics.
First it was the ice being an issue but that has calmed down with no issues, then it was the board colour messing with goalies so that had to be changed. Then you have a lack of attention to detail when EIGHT Czechia players were on the ice when they scored vs. Canada.
Although for the most part things have gone off without a hitch, perhaps there needs to be a bit more attentiveness to what goes on during games, and with a very heavily anticipated gold medal game approaching -- they can't afford to make any more mistakes.
