Earlier this off-season, the Boston Bruins traded goaltender Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators, and now, with training camp officially getting underway, it's a move that they may ultimately regret. Despite reports that they were nearing a deal, it appears now as though the Boston Bruins aren't close on a deal with Jeremy Swayman, who is now the team's starter after the shock trade.
However, General Manager Don Sweeney has now come out and refuted that, expressing disappointment in Swayman for not being able to get a deal done before training camp.
All hope is not lost though, as Sweeney has revealed his confidence in getting a deal done by December 1st with the 25-year old star goaltender, although this would leave the team with Jonas Korpisalo as their starter for the first two months of a critical season. From the outset, the hard feelings from arbitration a year ago were seemingly still in play from everyone involved in the negotiation, with the two sides just too far apart to make a deal happen.
The season is now less than a month away from starting for the Bruins, and the clock is ticking for the two sides to get something done, but after this latest statement from Sweeney, it may take even longer to make it happen. Given how important this season is, the latest comments will come as a major disappointment for Bruins fans, so now there's nothing to do but wait and see if they can come together and save their season before it even begins.
