Referees in sports are always controversial regardless of what sport or who is playing. Every single game a fan can come away and think the refs missed something. During the Boston Bruins' most recent game against the Montreal Canadiens, Jack Edwards shared several complaints about the officiating.
During his announcing career fans of other teams would always accuse Edwards of being biased in favor of the Boston Bruins. Now that he is retired he can be as biased as he likes to be. Edwards announced his retirement at the end of the 2023-24 NHL season. His bias took over against the Montreal Canadiens as Jack Edwards first complained about a Bruins goal that was called off due to goaltender interference.
The play in question that had Jack Edwards so upset can be seen below.
Then Jack Edwards would once again complain about another call later in the game. This time a penalty called on Boston Bruins defenseman Nikita Zadorov. Jack Edwards believes Nikita Zadorov was just doing what he needed to.
Even with all of these alleged missed calls the Boston Bruins found a way to persevere. A three-point night from Elias Lindholm and a two-goal performance from Mark Kastelic led the Boston Bruins to an eventual 6-4 win over the Montreal Canadiens.
With Jack Edwards now retired it is unclear how often he will be active on social media or talking about games. One thing is clear when he does comment on games it will be from a Boston Bruins point of view.
