Gary Bettman Under Fire For Giving Special Treatment to the Buffalo Sabres
A new report suggests that NHL teams could be angry at Gary Bettman for giving the Buffalo Sabres a special treatment.
Bettman Under Fire For Giving Special Treatment to the Sabres
The Sabres announced today that they've activated Jeff Skinner and Jordan Greenway off the IR. With those two players, they exceed the NHL's limit of 23, with 24 active contracts.
Per Elliotte Friedman:
Quirk in Christmas rules...Buffalo can roster 24 (one over the max) since they are under the cap. Makes some teams crazy, because they feel it gives an unfair advantage, but they are not required to make a loan/demotion during Holiday Freeze
The NHL explained that they're allowed to have one player over the limit because of the Christmas Break rules,
The Sabres now have until after the break to make a roster move.
Many believe this gives them an edge on other teams.
