Blackhawks player believes he should be captain over Connor Bedard
The Blackhawks' franchise changed drasticallty over the summer. With Connor Bedard, they're in a whole other position than they were at the same time last year.
A player like him is usually named captain not long after joining the team, like we saw with Connor McDavid in Edmonton.
However, don't be surprised if the organization decides to wait a year or two, or picks someone else.
Another player would certainly like the job.
Another Candidate for Captaincy
The veteran defenseman Seth Jones expressed his interest in becoming the team's captain.
"Seth Jones (@seth_jones) has expressed his desire in being the next #Blackhawks captain.
Jones says that he's always wanted to be captain, after learning from leaders like Jonathan Toews, Shea Weber, & Nick Foligno in his career.
Jones says that even if he isn't named captain, he knows his role in the locker room, and will continue being a vocal leader.
The 28-year old defenseman is signed in Chicago until 2030.
Jonathan Toews held the captaincy role in Chicago since 2008." Jones, 28, played two seasons in Chicago and scored 88 points in 150 games. It's safe to say that he's probably their most important player since Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane left.
If the Hawks plan on naming Bedard, they'll likely wait after his rookie season and therefore, won't have a captain this year.
If they don't want to wait, Jones might be the best option on the table.
