Preseason is well underway and as teams get back into midseason form, players are beginning to get a bit more physical.
Today the Minnesota Wild faced off against the Colorado Avalanche and midway through the second period, Daemon Hunt got the worst of a high hit from Avalanche forward Tanner Kero.
Hunt was a third-round pick of the Wild in 2020 and has been adjusting to the AHL. He played his first full season in the AHL last year registering 11 points in 59 games while maintaining a strong defensive game.
Kero on the other hand is a 31-year-old forward who bounces between the NHL and the AHL. He spent the entirety of the last season in the AHL scoring 50 points in 69 games.
This did not appear malicious from Kero but still was a brutal hit to watch. Hopefully, Hunt is okay and will be able to continue fighting for a roster spot.
