Veteran Joe Pavelski makes major decision on his NHL future
After an incredible 18-year career and a disappointing playoff finish, Joe Pavelski has now officially made a call on his outstanding career.
Joe Pavelski has been one of the most consistent players in the NHL over his career that spans all the way back to the 2003 NHL Draft, where he was taken in the seventh round by the San Jose Sharks.
Now, the veteran has officially decided to call it quits, hanging up the skates after 18 incredible seasons with San Jose and most recently, the Dallas Stars.
BREAKING: Joe Pavelski on NHL Morning Skate tells @LaughlinSXM that he will not be returning to playing hockey in the #NHL and will hang up the skates after 1,332 career regular season games and 201 playoff games.
Over that time, Pavelski skated in 1,332 games, netting an impressive 476 goals and 1,068 points, but will now hang it up after some frustrating playoff finishes that saw him fall short of the Stanley Cup.
After 1,332 games, Joe Pavelski has announced his retirement. 🫡
Congratulations on an incredible career! 👏
It's unclear what the future holds for the 40-year old, but given what he's meant to the game of hockey, it wouldn't be a shock if he remains connected to the NHL in some way moving forward, but for now we say congratulations on a stellar career to Joe Pavelski.
