Patrick Kane Nets Overtime Winner Against the Blackhawks and Taunts the Fans
Patrick Kane made his long-awaited return to Chicago today. The wait was well worth it for many Blackhawks fans although the way the game ended may leave a bitter taste in the mouths of many.
Kane Returns To Chicago For First Time Since Trade
As the Rangers did not play the Blackhawks after the trade last year, this was Kane's first game back in the city where he spent most of his career. It was certainly an emotional contest for the veteran winger, as well as for many fans of the team.
WOW.
Patrick Kane receives a deafening ovation from Blackhawks fans after the legend was honored with a video tribute during a TV timeout.
This is something else. ❤
While the tribute was a highlight of the night, there was still a hockey game to be played. For the Reed Wings, this game was especially important as they look to maintain pace with the teams ahead of them in the playoff race. They were just able to do so, thanks to some help from the former Blackhawk himself.
Kane Scores Overtime Winner Against Blackhawks
The Blackhawks legend has proven this year that he still has it, despite his offseason hip surgery and his advancing age. Tonight he showed it again as he drove a dagger into the heart of Hawks fans by securing the win on a breakaway in overtime.
Patrick Kane wins it in overtime in his return to Chicago.
No. Way. #Blackhawks
That being said, it seemed as though the fans in attendance could have been more upset about the result. In fact, many celebrated the moment with their franchise icon.
Kane Shares Special Moment With Blackhawks Fans After Overtime Winner
It is not often you see a crowd cheer for a visiting team scoring, especially when it is the game-winning goal. That is exactly what happened tonight though as the crowd at United Center erupted when Kane netted the goal.
