The Edmonton Oilers 2023-24 season has been an unmitigated disaster, and with the firing of Jay Woodcroft amidst their struggles and criticisms, it appears the players are feeling the effects.
While the new Head Coach in Edmonton has plenty of familiarity with Connor McDavid, it appears the Oilers captain was just as blindsided as everyone else by the move, and it was noticeable at Monday's practice.
"McDavid looked pretty shell shocked today. Said he woke up to a text message like everyone else yesterday, that he didn't know it was coming. Similar sense from Draisaitl. Both said this is on the players, not the coaches."
With his contract coming up in a few years and the lack of playoff success this team has had, anything like this should come off as alarming for Oilers fans, especially if their on-ice struggles continue.
Marek on 32TP talking Connor McDavid: "He is legitimately pissed off, he's had it, and he's like legit pissed"
