Caught on Camera: Edmonton Oilers Head Coach Emotionally Accepts His Fate After Crushing Loss to the San Jose Sharks
San Jose Sharks Beat the Edmonton Oilers in What Could Be Jay Woodcroft's Last Game as Oilers' Coach
The Oilers have reached the bottom of the barrel. Their disappointing start to the season continued yesterday, as they lost to the San Jose Sharks.
Edmonton is now 2-9-1. If they don't win their next game, they will be tied for the 32nd position in the NHL.
Before that happens, the organization will certainly make changes. The next one to go, according to many, is head coach Jay Woodcroft.
After the game, Woodcroft was filmed walking on the ice back to the locker room, looking devastated, apparently accepting his fate.
As Jay Woodcroft and Dave Manson walk off the ice after the Oilers' loss to San Jose, Woodcroft appears to say "That might be it" to Manson, who appears to respond with "yup."
Coaching Change Incoming in Edmonton?
You can't have two of the best players in the world and be at the bottom of the NHL.
Woodcroft, who definitely has to take part of the blame, has been widely targeted by critics.
Many believe he needs to be fired, even with two years left on his contract.
There are a few great candidates that could replace him. Gerard Gallant, Claude Julien, or Patrick Roy could turn things around in Edmonton.
Updates and details will follow.
