A new report today has confirmed some terrible news for Oilers goalie Jack Campbell and the future of his NHL career.
Campbell Struggles Throughout AHL Stint
During the height of the Edmonton Oilers bad stretch of play this season, Jack Campbell was sent to the AHL. This was originally supposed to be a short stint to get him back on track. However, his horrific play has led the Oilers to need a change of plans.
After being pulled in an AHL game just over a week ago an NHL insider has announced a change of plans for Campbell in the AHL. The announcement has led Campbell to a rock bottom no one saw coming this season.
Friedman Confirms The Worst News Possible for Campbell
Today Elliotte Friedman spoke about the Edmonton Oilers and their goaltending situation. He has heard that Jack Campbell's terrible play has led the organization to make him the backup in the AHL.
Jack Campbell has lost his starting job with the Bakersfield Condors in the AHL
Friedman says the team will prioritize the development of young goaltender Olivier Rodrigue instead. This could be the final nail in Jack Campbell's NHL career in Edmonton. The organization seems to have lost all faith that he can find his game.
It will take a trade now and new organization for Jack Campbell to get another meaningful shot at the NHL.
