The Edmonton Oilers made the shock decision to hire Stan Bowman, and now their fans are clearly making their voices heard with a massive petition.
Recently, the NHL reinstated Stan Bowman after his involvement in the 2010 Chicago Blackhawks scandal, and it didn't take long for him to find a job, as the Edmonton Oilers announced him as their new GM on Wednesday.
Unsurprisingly, fans weren't too happy with the move, as many believe he doesn't deserve a high profile job in the NHL, and now they're looking to have their voices heard with a petition.
Nearly 3.5x the population of the Vatican City 🇻🇦 have signed a petition to get Stan Bowman out of the #Oilers 🇨🇦 organization.
Bowman was the general manager of the #Blackhawks 🇺🇸 in 2010 where it was later revealed a decade later that he was a part of covering up the r*pe of one of his players by an equipment manager during their cup run.
The petition on change.org already has over 3,000 signatures, and while it may not make too much difference to the Oilers front office, it's clearly a move that's uniting fans in their frustration and disgust with the Oilers front office. Before the move was announced, CEO Jeff Jackson made his X account private, anticipating the backlash, and now the fans are making their voices heard, as the team have put everything, including their morals aside to make this decision.
