Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid both confirm their futures in Edmonton
Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid both confirm their futures in the Edmonton Oilers' organization.
With the Florida Panthers only one win away from the Stanley Cup, Oilers fans slowly turn their focus to the offseason.
Unless the Oilers manage to win four straight games against the Panthers, this year will be a bust.
"It's Cup or bust," said Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid at the beginning of the season.
After a bust, management must make tough decisions in order to improve by the start of the next season.
Fans were concerned that either Leon Draisaitl or Connor McDavid would leave the team if they don't win a Stanley Cup, but a new report soothed their fears.
Draisaitl and McDavid plan on staying in Edmonton long-term.
Frank Seravalli announced that both Draisaitl and McDavid made it clear to the Oilers' management that they plan on staying in Edmonton long-term:
"Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid have reportedly made it clear to the Edmonton Oilers management/owners that they have no intentions of leaving or testing free agency, and want to re-sign long-term in Edmonton. Per Frank Seravalli."
Draisaitl is set to become a free agent at the end of the 2024-25 season, and Bob Stauffer shared that the player has already started to discuss an extension with his team:
"According to Bob Stauffer, the Oilers and Draisaitl have already begun extension discussions, and Draisaitl wants to be locked up long-term, not like the Auston Matthews deal in Toronto." Are you surprised about Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid's decision for their futures in the Edmonton Oilers' organization?
