The Florida Panthers' preseason didn't get off to a great start after forward Thomas Nosek went down hard and left the game after an injury scare.

Florida is looking to have another deep playoff run after they recently won the Stanley Cup. A lot of their players have left for other pastures including their backup goaltender Anthony Stolarz and it may feel like those holes will be harder to fill than others. They signed Thomas Nosek away from New Jersey in the hopes he would fit a defensive forward role with the club.

Well his time on the ice may come to a premature end at least for the time being, as he caught himself on the ankle of a Nashville Predators defenseman and crashed hard into the boards.

Nosek needed to be helped off the ice and it's unknown how severe the injury is.

He scored 2 goals and 4 assists with the Devils last season in only 36 games but the veteran forward enjoyed some success during his time playing for the Vegas Golden Knights as this was his best offensive stretch; averaging almost 8 goals and 8.5 assists in a four-year span. He then departed for the Boston Bruins in 2021-2022 where he found himself on the bottom-six; however was still able to put in 35 points in his two seasons with Boston. He's a faceoff machine, averaging nearly 55% for his career and Florida will dearly miss his defensive game as he recovers.

It's a shame to see something so scary happen this early into the preseason, however all we can do is hope for the best for Nosek and wish him a speedy recovery.

We will update you as more information is revealed.
