Los Angeles Kings forward Tanner Jeannot has been suspended three games for his dirty hit on Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser.

In a game that had many implications regarding the Pacific Division, the Los Angeles Kings and Vancouver Canucks squared off in a crucial matchup that would determine the cream of the crop as it pertains to the teams out West.

So with those implications comes competitiveness, and though everybody enjoys a hard-fought, passionate game between two strong clubs, sometimes things get too heated. Tanner Jeannot found himself a little extra motivated, delivering a dirty hit to Canucks star Brock Boeser.

But not only did Jeannot receive a game misconduct for his actions, but also had a hearing with the NHL Player Safety Department, who handed down some pretty big punishment at least as it pertains lately:

It's a bit of a lengthy dismissal for the former Tampa Bay Lightning forward, as his being off the ice helps neither the Kings nor himself. Struggling in his first season with LA, he's not doing himself any favors when he is taking himself off the ice by doing these types of hits.

It's a positive though to see the league actually taking disciplinary action towards Jeannot, as the league often punishes players for the smallest offenses, or completely ignoring ones that should be taken seriously.

It would set a dangerous precedent to let players know they can get away with hits like Jeannot without getting more than a slap on the wrist, so hopefully this will make some players think twice about deciding to make a dirty hit. All that's certain is Jeannot needs to make up for it upon his return.
