Canadiens Kaiden Guhle to undergo emergency surgery on his appendix
The young defenseman of the Montreal Canadiens Kaiden Guhle will miss some time after he had to undergo emergency appendicitis surgery.
Montreal Canadiens defenceman Kaiden Guhle will be re-evaluated in a week after undergoing an appendectomy on Wednesday, the team announced.
Guhle, 22, is preparing to enter his third NHL season after signing a six-year, $33.3-million contract extension in July. This season, he'll still be playing under his entry-level deal, which runs out at the end of the year.
Through 70 games last season, Kaiden Guhle scored six goals and 22 points, while averaging 20:51 minutes of ice time per game, which ranked third among Canadiens' defenders. In his rookie season in 2022-23, he recorded four goals and 18 points through 44 games.
The Canadiens selected Kaiden Guhle with the 16th pick in the first round of the 2020 NHL Draft. The team is hoping he will be able to return as quickly as possible as they will need his solid play on their blue line. Habs fans are hoping their team can get off to a hot start, if they want a chance at challenging for a wild card spot this season.
