Gabriel Bourque, a member of the Montreal Canadiens organization, announced his retirement at 34 years old.

On Thursday morning, Bourque, a veteran who spent the past three years with the Laval Rocket in the AHL, announced in a French interview that he's retiring from his playing career.

Gabriel Bourque also revealed that he already found a new job in hockey. He was named assistant-coach of the Lionel-Groulx College Nordiques in Ste. Therese, Quebec.

The 5'9" winger's NHL journey started in 2009, when he was drafted in the fifth round by the Nashville Predators. Then, he finished his junior career in the QMJHL with the Moncton Wildcats, where he won the championship.

He spent his season in the NHL with Nashville in 2011, and played 413 games in the big league since. In addition to the Predators, Bourque played for the Colorado Avalanche and Winnipeg Jets. He ended up scoring 103 points, including 40 goals, in the NHL.

He also played a lot in the AHL, and ended his career on a great note as captain of the Laval Rocket. Not only did he score 70 points with the Canadiens' affiliate club, he also helped the young players develop with his experience and leadership.

We wish him the best as he enters the new chapter of his career.

Meanwhile the Canadiens will be in action tomorrow against the Ottawa Senators, only a few days after a series of incidents occured in a game between the two teams.

If you missed it, Dach had to momentarily leave the game after a questionable hit from Sens' Greig, and Xhekaj demolished Stutzle with a hit that got him ejected.
