BREAKING: Eastern Conference Head Coach Fired and Replaced
The New Jersey Devils have underperformed expectations by quite a lot this season. Now people in the organization are starting to see the consequences of that.
Devils Fire Head Coach Lindy Ruff
The team just announced moments ago that they have relieved Lindy Ruff of his duties as the team's head coach. In a corresponding move, the team has promoted assistant coach Travis Green to a Interim role and he will serve as the team's head coach for the remainder of the season.
#NEWS: We have relieved Lindy Ruff of his head coaching duties and named Associate Coach Travis Green as Interim Head Coach for the rest of the season.
The Devils were expected by many to be Stanley Cup contenders this season, but after their most recent skid, they now find their playoff chances shrinking as they are eight points back of the second wild card spot with many teams ahead of them. The team is currently 6th place in the Metro division with 64 points in 61 games played. Be sure to stay tuned to see how this move will impact the rest of the team's decisions as we get closer to Friday's trade deadline.
