The passing of Chris Simon comes just one day after Konstanin Koltsov passed away at 42.
Today, March 19th, the obituary of Chris Simon was released, revealing in detail the circumstances surrounding his untimely passing. Simon was drafted in the 2nd round by the Philadelphia Flyers but would never play for the Flyers as he was apart of the Eric Lindros trade that saw one of the biggest trades in NHL history.
Simon would end up playing 12 seasons in the NHL with various different teams during his time in the NHL, solidifying himself as a 20-30 point player and averaging over 100+ penalty minutes in a season.
His best year came in 1999-00 season with the Washington Capitals where Simon put up 29 goals and 49 total points in 75 games. He would finish his professional NHL playing career in 2007-08 with the Minnesota Wild.
During his Stanley Cup run with the Avalanche Simon would play 12 games only collecting one goal and two assists.
He started his career in 1992-93 season with the Quebec Nordiques only playing 16 games in that season and 37 the following year. He would get pumped into a full role in 1995-96 playing 64 games and having 34 pointss.
Simon then played the next 7 seasons with the Washington Capitals playing the best hockey of his career there. Then at the tail end of his career played with the Blackhawks for a season and the Rangers for a season.
He would play two season in both Calgary and with the Islanders before finishing with the Wild.
