Sportsnet Hockey Insider Elliotte Friedman has reported that New York Rangers defenseman and team captain Jacob Trouba has likely run out of time with the team, with a move imminent.
According to Friedman, the Rangers are fielding trade offers for Trouba and that if he does use his no-trade clause to block a trade, that he will be waived.
Friedman adds that the Columbus Blue Jackets appear to be one team involved in talks for the defenseman.
Arthur Staple of 'The Athletic' first reported that if there isn't a trade for Trouba, that he will be placed on waivers today. Staple also adds that Trouba's time in New York appears to be over.
ESPN Hockey reporter Emily Kaplan named Columbus as one of the teams in discussion for Trouba.
The Blue Jackets recently acquired defenseman Dante Fabbro off waivers from Nashville, who has been productive with 3 goals and 6 points in 11 games, but may be the man out if they move for Trouba.
Also named by Kaplan as teams that have discussed Trouba along with Columbus include the New York Rangers include the Detroit Red Wings, Ottawa Senators, & the Buffalo Sabres.
Larry Brooks of the New York Post first reported Trouba would be inactive for "roster management" and that defenseman Victor Mancini was recalled from Hartford.
Fellow New York Post writer Mollie Walker also reports Rangers star center Mika Zibanejad has not waived his no-move clause for any deal.
Trouba, 30, has just six points in 24 games with the New York Rangers this season. Trouba has been with the Rangers since 2019, having previously been a member of the Winnipeg Jets, who drafted him in the first round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, 9th overall.
