After spending time under Kyle Dubas in Toronto, Jason Spezza followed him to Pittsburgh this summer, but now, it appears he could potentially be on the way out soon.

A reunion incoming?

With the recent vacancy opening up in Ottawa, rumours have now spread that Spezza could reunite with the Senators, but this time in the General Manager role.

There's been a lot of talk about Peter Chiarelli, but another name I'd throw in there is Tampa Bay director of hockey operations Mathieu Darche. Darche interviewed in Montreal while Andlauer still owned part of the Canadiens, so there is familiarity. Another person suggested Jason Spezza. Teams with legit candidates aren't always willing to give them up in-season. It will be up to Staios, but another possibility is the organization adding a «veteran hockey presence» in a non-GM role. There is going to be a ton of interest, despite the loss of this draft choice. Team is on the way up, Dorion left them far from barren. - Elliotte Friedman

Several candidates

While Spezza certainly isn't considered a favourite for the role, he is one name being thrown out there by several sources, and after playing 11 seasons and 686 games for the team, it would be a very fun reunion indeed.

His experience beside Dubas could be a key to him getting a General Manager role one day, but given how much he means to the team and the city, watch for him to continue getting attention for this role as the search for a new GM in Ottawa heats up.
