Claude Giroux fell victim to a crime on Tuesday and his wife has taken matters into her own hands after the police's response was unprofessional to say the least.

While NHL players are not privy to falling victim to those more mischievous people, such as when Former NHLer Georges Laraque had his collectibles store broken into or the many times the Stanley Cup went missing, or was vandalized, the news does happen few and far between.

But when Claude Giroux woke up on Wednesday morning, he was an unfortunate tally onto that victim chart. It was reported by Giroux's wife Ryanne on her personal social media account that Giroux's car not only had been stolen but that it was still currently on the road somewhere:

"Good morning Ottawa! @28CGiroux's car was stolen last night and is currently actively driving," Ryanne wrote. "Unable to get ahold of Ottawa Police until 10 a.m. looking for other suggestions/to hear from other people in Ontario who have sadly had to deal with this recently."

Claude seemed to echo this statement with a simple emoji to establish just how he feels about the whole situation:

However, it was the response (or lack thereof) from the Ottawa Police that really stirred the pot of the whole situation. It took them a whopping 37 minutes to respond to Giroux's post and it seemed like they were telling the Giroux's the obvious and something they clearly did with no response:

It seems ridiculous to think that the Giroux's would immediately only go to social media to ask about this; it was clear they tried to call a non-emergency line first in order to report in due to the fact they did not want to tie up the lines for more urgent matters; as Ryanne confirmed in a follow-up post:

"Thank you for all your help! Not banking on ever seeing that car again but stay tuned [crying laughter emoji] Police have been notified. Claude did initially call 911 but after the initial conversation, we weren't sure it was an «emergency." We did end up calling 911 again to report.

Giroux, a 16-year veteran has made himself a heck of a career with the Philadelphia Flyers, Florida Panthers and Ottawa Senators. He ranks 2nd on the Flyers in games played with 1000, 8th in goals with 291, 2nd in assists with 609, and 2nd in points with 900. For his career he has 350 goals and 716 assists and has been a very solid playoff contributor with 81 points in 95 career games. He also has deep ties to the Ottawa area, having played in Junior A hockey with Cumberland as well as in Gatineau; roughly a twenty minute drive from the border of Ontario and Quebec.

Giroux and his wife Ryanne don't need this added stress, given they already have a third child on the way. However, Ryanne stayed in good spirits about everything and made a humourous quip to top it all off.

"Maybe this will get me into labor."
