The San Jose Sharks have seemingly been willing to move their top star all summer long, but to this point, no deal has come to fruition, so will this Penguins mock trade finally get it done?
Norris Trophy winner
After a down year in 2021-22, Karlsson bounced back in a huge way last year, becoming just the sixth defensive player to ever score over 100 points in a season en route to his third career Norris Trophy.
With the state of the team however, moving him this off-season has become a priority, and with several Eastern Conference teams interested in his services, many mock trades have emerged in recent weeks.
Karlsson to Pittsburgh
The latest mock trade comes to us from Clutch Points NHL, who have come up with this trade idea:
While it may seem like an overpay for Pittsburgh, if they could do this and pair Karlsson with Kris Letang, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, they would be serious contenders to bounce back in 2023-24 and make a genuine run.
