In a question and answer session with members of the media today, Kyle Dubas was asked how it differs in Pittsburgh compared to his time with the Toronto Maple Leafs, in which he served seven years as General Manager. His answer has some fans raising their eyebrows.
There's no doubt Dubas was going to talk up his new role and the city it's in while speaking with reporters, but saying Pittsburgh is more like home than Toronto indicates he was never all that happy in Toronto, or he's being disingenuous.
Dubas was raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, not all that far from Toronto. His early days as a hockey executive included GM of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, then moving on to GM of the Toronto Marlies and assistant GM with the Leafs being being named General Manager of Toronto in 2017. If Pittsburgh feels more like home after under a month, it must be a hell of a place.
