The Seattle Kraken followed up a poor first season in franchise history by making it to the second round of the playoffs in 2022-23, and now they're locking in one of the team's most important players.
A talented young defenceman
The Seattle Kraken expansion draft was one that disappointed many fans following the success of the Vegas Golden Knights, but on that day, they locked up many key pieces that helped them achieve this success.
Now some of those players are being rewarded, as NHL Insider Kevin Weekes is reporting that the Kraken are close to locking up key defenceman Vince Dunn, although the term and value is yet to be determined.
A career year
Dunn has always flashed plenty of promise, but last season was a career year, as he played in 81 games, tallying 14 goals and 50 assists for a career high 64 points, and with the team only getting better, he's likely to continue his rise.
He will be key to the success of this franchise going forward, and with a talented young core, he can be a leader for a successful team over the next decade.
