Being a referee is a tough job, and it requires strong decision making. In a game between the Predators and Kraken, a referee made a near career-ending decision.
Referee's Actions Nearly end in Skate Blade to the Face for Tanev
In a heated game between the Seattle Kraken and Nashville Predators, Brandon Tanev and Carson Soucy got into it quite a few times.
Referee Eric Furlatt was right by the two as things started to get out of hand, and opted to slewfoot Soucy to ease the situation.
When Soucy fell over, his skate blade got within centimetres of Brandon Tanev's face, and it's horrifying to imagine what would have happened if the two were just slightly closer together.
Thankfully everybody is ok.
