MAJOR: Lightning to Receive Trade Offers For Captain Steven Stamkos
In major news, the Tampa Bay Lightning are reportedly accepting offers for a trade for their Captain Steven Stamkos.
Elliotte Friedman Reveals that Teams Will Try And Aquire Stamkos if He Remains Unsigned
Steven Stamkos has voiced his displeasure with the Tampa Bay Lightening not getting a deal done before the season started. Now, he remains unsigned in the final year of his deal.
The season is also not going quite as Tampa had hoped, with the Lightning sitting on the bubble of being a playoff contender. Elliotte Friedman revealed that if both these trends continue, the Tampa Bay Lightening can count on getting calls about a potential trade for Stamkos.
EF (32TP): "What happens if Tampa is a bubble team and Stamkos isn't signed at the end of the season?"
Marek: "Well, that's what Julien BriseBois talked about at the beginning of the season, we need to see what the season is going to be like here"
EF: "Teams are going to call"
Stamkos In A Jersey Other Than Tampa's Seems Wrong
Stamkos is easily the face of the Tampa Bay Lightning Franchise, there's almost no denying it. He has led the team to two Stanley Cups, is a multi-year all-star, and will assuredly be a hall-of-famer.
Over 500 goals
Over 1,000 points
2 Stanley Cups
Future Hall of Famer
Greatest player in Tampa sports history
Steven Stamkos went through it all to become a legend.
He hasn't missed a beat despite getting a bit older, either. He currently has 24 points in 23 games, and last season recorded an 84-point season. Its quite clear that if Tampa thinks their dynasty years are over, they could get a nice return for their long-time Captain.
It remains to be seen how Stamkos' negotiations will turn out.
