With the trade deadline quickly approaching, the speculation is running rampant regarding who is going to be traded and where their new home is going to be.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to be big players at the deadline, and according to a new report from NHL Insider David Pagnotta; could be in line to trade for Vancouver's Brock Boeser.
The new and updated trade board from Pagnotta and The Fourth Period dropped and among the new names on the board, Brock Boeser finds himself ranked #14 on the list.
With contract extensions far apart, could the Maple Leafs swoop in and take Boeser off the Canucks' hands?
Pagnotta mentions that Boeser and the Canucks are not close on a contract, and with him being a UFA and able to recoup some pretty decent assets for him; he might be on the move:
Boeser is making $6.65M this season and will more than likely be in the range of $7.5-8M for his next deal.
But Toronto should at least seriously consider him as a rental. He adds size, scoring, takes a ton of shots and in his minimal playoff experience has actually produced with 23 points in 29 games.
This season, Boeser is having yet another solid year. In 48 games he has 18 goals and 17 assists in 17:44 TOI but has averaged 25 goals and 54 points over his past seven seasons.
He would instantly give Toronto's Top 6 one of the scariest in the league too.
Knies - Matthews - Marner
Nylander - Tavares - Boeser
Those six would provide Toronto with the scoring, playmaking and size necessary for the first two lines, and allows Bobby McMann to lead the scoring on the third line; perhaps with a new center as well.
The cost to get him won't be cheap though, as it will certainly cost at least one of Toronto's top prospects in either Easton Cowan or Fraser Minten, and has to include their 2026 first rounder at minimum as well.
But if Brad Treliving and company really want to make a splash at the deadline, they could add Brock Boeser to the fold and bring in a consistent and reliable scoring threat.
