Auston Matthews has spoken to the media about his four-year extension and has discussed what William Nylander is doing.

Auston Matthews has just spoken to the media about his contract situation and was asked about William Nylander. His response is quite encouraging for the Leafs.
"His position is his own situation. He knows we all want him here ... I hope he'll be a Maple Leafs for a long time."
While Matthews is aware his contract situation is over, he knows Nylanders is ongoing and he hopes that he stays a Leaf for a long time.
Treliving Speaks
While Matthews spoke on the situation, Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving also spoke on the situation.
"William's a terrific player. You want to keep your stars. We have time."
Nylander like Matthews, Marner, and Tavares is a star and he proved himself as one with 87 points last year. He will look to help the Leafs do better in the playoffs next year and will try to prove himself as one of the best players in the NHL.
