Auston Matthews Likely To Make Maple Leafs History First Game of the Season
Auston Matthews is set to break Maple Leafs history and he is likely to do so in the first game of the season vs the Canadiens.
Matthews On The Verge Of History
Recently, a post from Sportsnet Stats has circulated social media showing how Auston Matthews is primed to break records next year. The biggest one currently is the fastest to score 300 goals.
Matthews currently sits at 299 goals in 482 career games which is quite impressive giving him a career goals per game of .62.
When Will The Record Fall?
The record is expected to fall at the start of the year and will place Matthews as the 2nd fastest to 300 goals only behind Alex Ovechkin who did it in 473 games.
With the Maple Leafs first three games being against the Canadiens, Red Wings, and the Blackhawks, all teams that missed the playoffs last year, we can expect to see Matthews score at least one goal versus one of these team.
While there are no definites, we can be confident that Auston Matthews will break history at the start of next year and truly establish himself as the greatest Leafs goalscorer of all time over the coming years.
