Today a former Maple Leaf has secured a new job with a rival organization in the NHL.

Former Maple Leaf Secures A New Job

A new report from NHL insider Michael Russo has confirmed that a former Maple Leaf is beginning his next career after playing. According to Russo former Maple Leaf Cody Franson has been hired as an assistant coach in the Minnesota Wild organization.

Hearing the #mnwild are hiring retired longtime NHL defenseman Cody Franson to replace now Wild assistant Pat Dwyer on Brett McLean's staff in Iowa. The big D played 550 games for the Leafs, Preds, Hawks and Sabres. He worked his way up thru AHL and ended his playing career there

Franson will serve as an assistant for the Iowa Wild in the NHL. Much like his playing career Franson will now look to make his way back up the ranks from behind the bench.

This will be Franson's first coaching gig in the NHL. During his playing career, Franson appeared in 550 NHL games 236 of which came in Toronto.
