BREAKING: Martin Jones' Fate in Toronto Confirmed
Yesterday the Toronto Maple Leafs placed goalie Martin Jones on waivers. Today his fate and future with the Maple Leafs was confirmed.
Jones' Fate Confirmed
After the announcement of several players being claimed on waivers it was confirmed that Martin Jones was not one of them.
Martin Jones clears waivers and will likely head to the #Marlies (at least on paper). Good news for the #Leafs to have a veteran third goalie.
Jones will now likely be the Toronto Marlies starter in the AHL. He will provide organizational stability behind Ilya Samsonov and Joseph Woll.
Samsonov has shown in the past to be a streaky goaltender and could end up in a slump. Woll is young and has very few NHL appearances the ability to keep Jones safeguards the organization in case disaster strikes.
