The GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs sat down with media on Friday, August 25th to discuss his goaltending options for the upcoming 2023-24 NHL season.
Samsonov is primed for improvement
Brad Treliving is impressed with the off-season work that Ilya Samsonov has done and mentions that the Russian goaltender is already in Toronto preparing for the upcoming season. He further mentions that there is no bad blood after the length salary arbitration proceedings that took place this past summer.
Treliving is also confident in young goaltender, Joseph Woll, who looks ready to secure one of the two goaltending positions for the Toronto Maple Leafs. It remains to be seen if Woll will adjust as the back-up netminder this season or if he can develop into a reliable tandem option.
The Leafs will be a cup contender and will need reliable goaltending to take them as far as they can go. At least to Treliving, he believes that he already has that within the organization.
