In a press conference today, Brendan Shanahan shared all the details of how the Kyle Dubas contract situation went down.
Shanahan Reveals The Shocking Way Dubas Tried To Swindle Leafs
Brendan Shanahan just spoke to the media and explained exactly what the Leafs' management thought about Kyle Dubas and how he handled his contract situation
Kyle Dubas started with a very fair deal with the Leafs but after he noticed how the players loved him as a GM, he thought he could get more money as a GM.
It was to the Leafs' knowledge that the Leafs had a deal with Dubas basically laid out but because he thought he had job security, he was asking for a massive raise.
With a $2-3 million dollar difference in desire, the Leafs had to cut ties with Dubas despite wanting him as their GM. It looks like this can be linked back to Dubas' final press conference with the Leafs and how he felt he could get more money out of the franchise.
