On the 32 Thoughts podcast, Elliotte Friedman shared a detail about Dubas right before the firing stating that he had a meeting with his management team about how to make the team better.
Shanahan's Ego Holding Leafs Back
With Shanahan conveniently leaving Dubas' meeting about making the team better out of his timeline shows how he was trying to paint Dubas as a villain in his press conference.
It was reported that Shanahan has blocked many moves Dubas tried to make throughout his time in Toronto which furthers this idea and with Shanahan potentially being the problem, it could result in more years of failure in Toronto.
