Spencer Carbery is a story to be told. Having a dream of making the NHL, Carbery fell just short as a player peaking in the ECHL. After Carbery retired from playing, he started coaching and has worked his way up to the NHL as a coach.
Currently an assistant for Toronto, Carbery is near the pinnacle of the coaching ladder. Now, other NHL teams are looking to make him their head coach.
On the 32 Thoughts podcast, Elliotte Friedman revealed which team is the favorite for Carbery.
Washington would be a great destination for Carbery. A team that could make the playoffs with the right coach, Washington could be where Carbery proves he is legit.
It would also be interesting to see how Carbery deals with old stars and young and hungry players. It would also be interesting to see how he utilizes Rasmus Sandin in Washington.
Sandin has grown exponentially since joining Washington. Starting his season off with 20 points in 52 games with Toronto, Sandin finished off with 15 points in 19 games in Washington.
If Carbery coaches the Caps, he could be the spark plug that puts them back in the playoffs and revitalizes their waning stars like Kuznetsov, Oshie, and Backstrom.
