Ilya Samsonov and The Leafs Relationship Is Now Known Post-Arbitration
Ilya Samsonov and the Maple Leafs could have had a fractured relationship after the arbitration settlement.
Samsonov's New Contract
This summer, Ilya Samsonov filed for arbitration. He was asking for nearly $5 million while the Leafs wanted under that.
Eventually, after an arbitrator discussed it with the two parties, Samsonov's new contract was decided.
Many fans were worried that this may hurt the Leafs and Samsonov's relationship but that does not appear to be the case.
Samsonov And The Leafs In Good Graces
Recently, James Mirtle of The Athletic commented on the Leafs relationship with Samsonov.
It was revealed that this was how Brad Treliving handled the situation.
This is a good sign for the Leafs because they may want to have Samsonov as their starting goalie for the foreseeable future and if the relationship was damaged, then the Leafs would be in some hot water.
