Insider drops major hint on Nylander's future with the Maple Leafs
This insider just dropped some major news on William Nylander's future in Toronto and if the Leafs are looking to move him.
Leafs Rumoured to be Shopping Nylander Still
Nylander has started the year off extremely strong, which is about everything he could have asked for given the fact that he doesn't have a contract yet. The young Swede has 12 points in 8 games, and a point streak this entire year.
Now, insider Eklund has reported that the rumours are still alive that the Leafs are looking to trade Nylander. However, his play has driven up the asking price, as teams know they will have to get him a deal.
Leafs Would Need a Good Return for a Nylander Move
The Leafs would need to be considering an excellent return for a potential move for Nylander. There is no question that as of today Nylander is the best deal in the NHL regarding his $6.9 AAV. A trade would have to significantly benefit them in order to consider, as Nylander is performing well.
The Leafs do need to potentially add to their back end, with a slew of injuries popping up and Klingberg not playing up to his full potential. However, it's a trade-off they might not want to make, as they would be losing one of the top scorers in the league right now.
