As the Leafs get ready for their most important game of the season, one topic of conversation that's been swept under the rug is the status of rookie Matthew Knies. Luckily for fans, Captain John Tavares has provided a positive update on Knies' health.

Knies is Progressing Nicely

John Tavares met with the media today, and during his availability, he was able to provide an update on the status of Matthew Knies, who will likely miss the rest of the series with a concussion.

«Matty's doing great. I think he's doing better every day. Good to see. He's played well since coming in here considering his age & circumstances. Obviously hate seeing him be out but he's doing much much better & continues to progress well.»

Sounds like the whole Leafs locker room has taken quite nicely to the addition of Matthew Knies, and with his recent injury, it's nice to know his captain is looking out for him. If you remember, it was confirmed that Knies has been living in Tavares' basement during his short tenure with the Leafs, which makes Tavares' update all the more heartwarming.

Hopefully we get to see Knies back in action soon, but for now we just hope he rests up.
