The Maple Leafs made some big pickups over the summer, and if he can get back to his 2021-22 form, there's perhaps no bigger acquisition for this team than John Klingberg.
Bounce back season incoming?
Over the course of his eight year career with Dallas, Klingberg was able to put up an impressive 71 goals and 374 points in 552 games, but in 2022-23, he took a step back between time with the Ducks and Wild.
Now, he finds himself in a key role on a playoff team once more, and after moving onto the Leafs first power play unit, he's got big expectations as the season nears.
Major Injury Dodged
Fortunately, after some fears that his injury may be significant, the Leafs have revealed that Klingberg is day-to-day going forward with an upper body injury.
Maple Leafs D John Klingberg (upper body, day-to-day) and F William Nylander (flu-like symptoms) will not practice today. It appears he's still in line to be on the ice when the regular season opens, but if this injury gets any worse, it could be a major loss for the Leafs, so keep an eye on this space.
