Maple Leafs Reveal Mark Giordano's Replacement In The Lineup Amid Ongoing Trade Talks
The Toronto Maple Leafs have given fans a peek at the potential replacement for Mark Giordano if he is traded.
Giordano Suffers Frustrating Injury
Last night against the Florida Panthers Mark Giordano was in the lineup. Late in the first period Giordano attempted to block a shot. In the ensuing play the Panthers would go on to score.
After the goal Mark Giordano would go to the bench and straight down the tunnel. Giordano would not return to the game due to this injury.
In Giordano's absence an unlikely player will be relied on to step up.
New Defenseman Gets An Opportunity Due To Giordano's Absence
Today with a bit more clarity the Maple Leafs announced that Giordano would miss some time due to hand injury.
Keefe also announced that William Lagesson will draw into the lineup. He will be relied on to fill major minutes left by the absences of Giordano and Liljegren.
William Lagesson will draw in for Thursday's game against Seattle
Lagesson has played 12 games this season with the Maple Leafs and has 1 point. If he struggles to fill the gap left by Giordano the Maple Leafs could look to an outside source for a replacement.
The Maple Leafs hope that it doesn't come to that and that Giordano's injury ends up being a short term one.
