The search for the Maple Leafs' next General Manager is officially on, and it looks like President Brendan Shanahan may have his plate full. With a specific list of requirements in mind, Shanahan has a few candidates who fit his mold of the ideal GM.
Mutual Interest?
A big question looming over Shanahan right now is whether or not the candidates he wants to bring in are interested in the job. As Elliotte Friedman reported on the 32 Thoughts podcast, he might have a harder time finding people than he originally thought.
With some key veteran GMs refusing to come to Toronto, Shanahan may have to loosen up his restrictions and look elsewhere.
GMs Not Pleased With Shanahan's Comments
Another huge report by Friedman suggests that GMs that Shanahan has interest in have little interest in coming to Toronto after the comments made by Shanahan during his press conference. They felt like he aired out his dirty laundry with Kyle Dubas, and weren't a fan of that tactic.
With all of these major GMs refusing to come and fix Toronto, one must wonder if Shanahan himself is the issue.
