The «core four» is a term commonly used to refer to the four Maple Leafs superstars that make up their deadly offense. Those four being Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, John Tavares, and William Nylander. Each of the four have earned hefty contracts with Toronto, but can't seem to put it together when it matters the most.
Which of the Four is the Most Valueable?
According to respected NHL insider Frank Seravalli, Nylander is the last of the four he'd be willing to trade. Seravalli said the following:
"He looks like he digs in in the playoffs. He might not have the points but I think he's actually been fine. He provides the most surplus value relative to cap. He is the last guy of the four I would trade."
Seravalli went on to add that while he'd keep Nylander over the other three, he thinks Nylander would be the most likely target if the Leafs did move on from one of them.
