Marner Entering Final Season Under Contract In 2024-25

Mitch Marner has been a polarizing player for the Maple Leafs during their competitive window. With his contract being up after next season the debate has begun on his future with the Maple Leafs now.

I am just going to get my Marner opinions out of the way now. July 1st you offer him the exact same deal. It is 100% fair value for both of them.

With the fans wanting a similar contract offered to Marner some rumblings have come out that have indicated that might not be the case. One NHL insider believes Marner could ask for even more than Nylander got.

New Details Emerge In Marner's Negotiations With The Maple Leafs

After the Nylander contract extension was announced NHL writer and insider Nick Alberga shifted the focus to Mitch Marner. According to Alberga, Marner will be looking to get a deal well North of the $11.5M that was given to Nylander.

The discussion is still months away, but by the sounds of it, I'm hearing the Marner camp has its sights set on something well north of $11.5 million per season.

If this is true we could be in for another long negotiation process between the Maple Leafs and Marner. If this is the case be ready for the trade rumors and projected figures to begin all over again with Marner at the center this time.

It seems as though there are always going to be contract storylines created in Toronto. This season was Nylander and next will be Marner and John Tavares. Fans and media will always want a look forward to the future of the team and its core roster.
