Nick Robertson Breaks His Silence On Being Scratched By The Maple Leafs
Since the return from the Christmas break, the Toronto Maple Leafs have made some interesting lineup changes. One of those changes included scratching young forward Nick Robertson. Since being scratched Robertson has spoken for the first time.
Robertson Starts The New Year In The Press Box
Since their return from the Christmas break, the Toronto Maple Leafs have left Nick Robertson out of the lineup. This is a trend that has gone on now for three games.
Based on Maple Leafs practice lines, team is sticking with same lineup in San Jose that defeated the Ducks. Nick Robertson appears headed for another scratch.
Robertson has been a polarizing player for Maple Leafs fans and management. He has shown flashes of high level ability but has struggled to find consistency. With the most recent set of scratches Robertson missed out on an opportunity to play in front of his family during the Maple Leafs West Coast swing.
Today Robertson was asked about the consistent time he has spent out of the lineup in the last week or so.
Robertson Breaks His Silence On Being Scratched
During his media availability this morning Nick Robertson was asked about being scratched. His response was a lot more positive than many had expected it would be.
"We have so many guys that can be in the lineup. So, I think it's just more dealing with that. It's not a situation that I'm not used to. It's all mental. The game is all mental. I don't think it's anything that I'm playing bad or anything. I'm happy [with] the way I've been playing and they said that to me. So, I think it's just more [about] coming back in and not overthinking things while you're out of the lineup."
It seems as though with everything Robertson has been through in his career being scratched for a couple of games is just another bump in the road. The Maple Leafs are likely hoping Robertson's good attitude will lead to success on the ice once he returns.
