Leafs closing in on a blockbuster trade? Treliving spotted at Canadian rivals
The Toronto Maple Leafs are starting to realize they'll need to make changes to their team if they want to be considered as top contenders.
The Leafs started 2024 the right way, with four consecutive wins in early January. Unfortunately, they got back to their old ways by blowing three leads in the last three games.
All season long, talks about what changes needed to be done in Toronto in order to be at the top of their game have taken an important place in the hockey world.
People suggested that the Leafs' biggest issue is between the pipes, others think it's at the blue line, and some believe they need more offensive depth.
It looks like Brad Treliving is finally close to making a move. First, David Pagnotta reported that eight teams were at the game in Toronto last night.
Most importantly, Brad Treliving was spotted in Buffalo for the Sabres' game against the Canucks. Usually, when general managers attend games, it means a deal should happen soon.
Even if Vancouver nor Buffalo sent scouts to the Leafs' game last night, insider Elliotte Friedman thinks that Treliving's presence in Boston means something's up.
"On Saturday, there was bad weather in Buffalo. We all know the story, they moved the NFL playoff game... Brad Treliving made a trip on Saturday afternoon to go see the Sabres and Canucks... Everyone was kind of wondering, with the weather the way it was, and with the [Leafs] playing that night, it's pretty interesting that he went down there... there's some interesting names that you could look at in those situations and say 'what's he up to here?'." - Friedman on Treliving making a trip to Buffalo in person this weekend
The Leafs are currently preparing to go on a four-game road trip and the situation will be interesting to follow closely.
