Rumor: Canucks Interested in a trade with Maple Leafs involving William Nylander

Insider Eklund of HockeyBuzz.com recently dropped some major news and revealed that the Vancouver Canucks are trying to trade for William Nylander.

Nylander to Vancouver would make a lot of sense. Vancouver ownership wants to remain competitive and with Elias Pettersson saying he wants to be competitive as well, the Canucks could try and appease him with Nylander.

While Toronto's ask for Nylander is currently unknown, we can be certain that it will cost any team a haul to acquire Nylander.

In this trade, the Maple Leafs would be getting an immediate Nylander replacement in Boeser, who scored 55 points last year, a future Nylander replacement in Lekkerimaki, who was the 15th pick in 2022, and some picks.

In return, the Canucks would get a superstar to play alongside Elias Pettersson and a player who could be a part of their future long-term. While it would sting to lose Nylander, the Leafs would certainly make up for it with the necessary assets to improve their team this year and beyond.
