William Nylander and the Toronto Maple Leafs are at a crossroads. Nylander just watched Auston Matthews receive a record-breaking contract while not having Leafs GM Brad Treliving discuss Nylander's next deal.
Coming off a 40-goal 87-point season, the common notion is that Nylander is asking for eight figures from the Leafs which he could likely get on the open market.
However, if the Leafs and Nylander do not come to an agreement by the trade deadline, it will likely mean that Nylander is on his way out of Toronto and another team may try and trade for him.
Recently, NHL Trade Talk linked Nylander to the Chicago Blackhawks as the perfect linemate for Connor Bedard.
Nylander would certainly mold well with Bedard considering how both are elite players and they could develop some fantastic chemistry together in the coming years.
With Chicago having 5 first-round picks in the next 3 years and a plethora of prospects, they could certainly work with the Leafs on giving them the best package among those interested in Nylander. It would allow them to give Bedard the perfect teacher and allow the Blackhawks to have an established piece as they look to become more competitive.
